Dr. Vanessa Peters (PGY2) represents Radiology at Annual Medical Education Conference (AMEC)

Attending the Annual Medical Education Conference (AMEC) on behalf of our radiology residency program was an incredibly energizing experience. AMEC brings together medical students from across the country who are committed not only to academic and clinical excellence, but also to growing as socially conscious, culturally aware future physicians.

Throughout the conference, I had the opportunity to meet and engage with medical students from all over the country. What struck me most was how informed and intentional these students were about exploring the field. They asked thoughtful questions not only about imaging modalities and pathology, but also about the culture of radiology, work-life balance, and the importance of representation and mentorship. Each student brought a unique background and story, and it was clear that their perspectives will only strengthen the specialty by broadening our range of voices, experiences, and insights.

I am proud to be part of a department that recognizes the value of early mentorship and outreach, and I’m excited to continue building these connections.
