Olga Pasternak-Wise, MD MS

Assistant Professor of Radiology

Dr. Olga Pasternak Wise has been intimately involved with the University of Chicago Diagnostic Radiology Program since 2020, where she started her career with the role of Assistant Program Director and was promoted to the Program Director in 2023. She also served as the Fellowship Program Director for the Neuroradiology section during the 2022 and 2023 academic years. Dr. Pasternak Wise’s main career passion is trainee education and program improvement, with her personal research efforts focused on optimizing radiology training using online, platform-based learning tools and section-specific, year-in-training specific learning modules and mini curricula. 

In addition to her personal research, Dr. Pasternak Wise is a part of several interdisciplinary research projects. Ongoing research for Dr. Pasternak Wise focuses on assessment of imaging studies performed on all patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and helping train machine learning algorithms in radiologic evaluation of brain computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) on TBI patients. The AI models developed by her team for head CT interpretation in penetrating TBI is helping create predictive outcome models and have earned her a position on the radiology workgroup of the NINDS group working on the third version of CDE, tasked with developing separate criteria in penetrating traumatic brain injury patients, as well as updating the pre-existing TBI dataset. 

Colin Brown, MD

Assistant Professor of Radiology

Dr. Colin Brown has been Associate Program Director for the UChicago Medicine Diagnostic Radiology Residency since 2024 and is also a proud 2012 graduate of the program. He works in the section of pediatric radiology at University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital and his professional interests include general pediatric radiology, pediatric musculoskeletal imaging, and resident education. Dr. Brown helps support the residency program’s mission of providing excellent and comprehensive training to our residents while providing top quality care for patients. In his free time, he enjoys taking his 3 kids to the park, working out, and fixing things around the house. 

Ahmed Hamimi, MD PhD

Assistant Professor of Radiology

Dr. Ahmed Hamimi earned his MBBCH and MD/PhD from Egypt. He obtained his FRCR qualification from the Royal College of Radiologists in London. Previously, he was a professor at the Alexandria University Faculty of Medicine. Most recently, he was affiliated with the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland during the period between May 2015 to August 2023. He is a fellow of the American College of Artificial Intelligence and Medicine. 

He is currently serving as an assistant professor of Abdominal Imaging and Wellness Director, Department of Radiology, University of Chicago. He is also associate program director of Residency program of the department.

Dr. Hamimi’s research focuses on imaging the heart, liver, and kidneys in patients with chronic metabolic diseases, including obesity, liver fibrosis, atherosclerosis, and chronic kidney disease. He is readily involved in cancer research focusing in exploring different imaging modalities and AI tools. 

His work has been published in Journal of Cardiovascular Translational Research, Computers in Biology and Medicine, Radiology, Journal of Endocrine Society, Scientific Reports, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, Endocrine-Related Cancer, Radiology: Cardiothoracic Imaging, and Cardiorenal Medicine.
